A row of Heritage Homes line up along 28th.
Each built with the same outline,
But filled in with different combinations of colours.
Each have their own story, their own poem.
Though they are the same homes,
The people inside stray far from similarity.
On one end the posh family resides.
Perfect on the outside, with their trimmed hedges,
Cut grass and array of exotic flowers.
The perfect way to hide their disarray.
On the other end is a family of mystery.
Blinds kept shut yet the only house
Without the wall of security of pine trees.
The house as dark as its exterior
Plays unsettling, haunting music for passerbys.
Next to the poshes, a smaller family.
Held tightly together since a tragedy
Had taken four and made it three.
Their house was the noisiest on the block,
And now it is the quietest.
To the right of the small family is the local celebrity.
The captivating lady resides in the large house
With her boyfriend and the two want to expand.
Soon, they’ll be a larger family. That is,
If she can find the time.
The similarity of the houses on the outside,
Shelter well the differences they hold inside.
Only a few of the houses were uncovered,
The rest soon to be exposed.
For all neighbourhoods share their differences,
But none so much as that on 28th.
